About Lisa
A little bit about me and how I got here; to South East Asia practicing Mayan Massage techniques.
Twenty years ago, I worked in a yoga retreat center in Tulum, Mexico. It was there that I first learned about the abdominal massage as it is common practice there among Mayan healers and midwives. I read Sastun; My Apprentice with a Maya Healer by Rosita Arvigo and even traveled to Belize many times. There Rosita gave me herbal formulas to treat painful menstruation, as I suffered terribly from a young age.
Eventually, I moved to Australia to learn acupuncture, with the plan to study and return to Mexico and open a community acupuncture clinic. That never eventuated and I found myself frustrated and unsure what to do next. Then I discovered, like many woman, that I had fibroids.
By chance a friend gave me an article about Arvigo® Therapy. It was a surprise as I had completely forgotten about this work. That led me do the Self-Care workshop (highly recommend for everyone) and to train and now work with these techniques.
My original plan was to stay in Australia but a trip to Vietnam changed things. Four years ago, I went to An Bang Beach near Hoi An in Central Vietnam and started to teach English. I fell in love with the kids and decided to base myself in South East Asia. I now spend my time between Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand teaching English and workshops in The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®. I incorporate elements of my prior training in massage, yoga and acupuncture in my work, but these days I specialize almost exclusively in The Arvigo® Techniques because I have seen life-changing results both personally and professionally.
